Gulf Coast Community Church is expanding. We are in the process of preparing to launch a new church plant in the Riverview/Brandon area. This is an answer to years of prayer by many for this area. It is also our faith-filled response to Jesus’ command to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)

The latest US Census shows that Florida is growing by about 285,000 per year and its population has reached roughly twenty million. This makes it one of the most populated states in the country. Tampa (Hillsborough only), amongst the cities is tied for 3rd with Orlando in absolute population growth per year. Many of these new arrivals settle in the Riverview/Brandon area, making it one of the fastest, if not the fastest growing areas in the Tampa Bay region. In the previous decade it grew by 490% and the number of churches has not nearly caught up. The church is God’s vehicle for the great commission so that the Gospel goes forward clothed in flesh—people who demonstrate the love of Christ through their own lives. It is our prayer that as a result of this work many will hear the good news of Jesus Christ and respond to His gospel.

We will begin holding Sunday services in the home of Vance and Terri Whitaker in Brandon on January 24th. The services will start at 4 pm and will be followed by a fellowship meal at 5:30. The address is 2802 John Moore Road, Brandon 33511. All are welcome! We will have childcare for children up to four years of age. If you are able to stay for the fellowship meal, please bring a dish to share.  Please arrive around 3:45 so we can start promptly at 4 pm. If there is no parking on the driveway, please park on Ridge Ct, which is the street south of the property.

This congregation will be a “campus” church plant of Gulf Coast Community Church. What do we mean by “campus”? Is this a video-cast preaching environment? Great questions. Luan Nguyen will be the lead campus pastor and, with many years of preaching ministry experience, he will be the primary preaching pastor for that campus. It will not be a video-cast type campus. What makes it a campus is that it will have both a shared eldership and administrative resources, which will allow it to begin functioning with a plurality of elders and not be burdened by many of the administrative necessities which often weigh down a smaller church. Being a campus will also allow the elders of the St. Petersburg campus to share in the preaching and teaching as needed and for both campuses to join together in other kinds of events (from youth events, to festivals, to seminars, etc.).

Luan and his family came to GCCC in 2004. He is a graduate of Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN (Master of Divinity, 2002). He has served as a Pastor vocationally since 1997 in Minnesota, Massachusetts and Florida. Luan has been married to his wife Teresa for 18 years and have two teenage children, Hannah (16) and Alexander (15). Click here to read Luan’s testimony.

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact the church office at (727) 522-7734 and someone will be glad to get you the information you need, or meet with you personally. You can also contact Luan Nguyen directly @ [email protected]
